Description: Scottish Rite hospital was our second visit and it was filled with mostly outpatient children and a few room visits. This visit we set up our display of toys in the atrium where the children go before their appointments. The pilot volunteers engaged the children and help them pick out a toy, balloon and a pillow pet. They then continued to interact with them. This visit was very good with over 200 kids that we visited with. There was one child who had more energy than a nuclear power plant and he was so excited about his remote control drone, amazing balloons, and pillow pet. We attached as many balloons to his wheelchair to see if he could lift off the ground. Once we attached over 15 helicopter and airplane balloons to his wheelchair he was adamant to fly up and down the hospital hallways, pulling wheelies, and showing off to everybody that he had the coolest wheelchair. He was such a happy boy and full of so much joy. The attending pilot volunteers were gifted by the hospital with the delicious buttered popcorn for their attendance. It was an amazing day full of so many smiles, laughter, and happy children.
Description: On December 3rd we kicked off our first children's hospital visit. This hospital was transitioning into their larger brand new facility so we did all room visits this year. It was a huge success as we had over 15 pilot volunteers. As we went from room to room we gifted the children with all sorts of cool toys and balloons. This day was full of joy and happiness. Thank you for all that volunteered, we truly brought so much joy to these children.
